Stitcher announces revamped podcast app to streamline listening experience

Stitcher has been around for a very long time in the podcast market, but a lot of people are unaware of the size of their platform. They are number three in terms of market share after Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Today, they are announcing that a whole new app experience is coming very soon.

With the redesigned Stitcher podcast app, three areas focused on:

  • New features to help listeners find, manage and discover new shows.

With the new app, one of the areas that has been revamped is the functionality of managing downloads. Now users have the ability to control the automatic download of new podcast episodes by podcast and choose the number of episodes to record. This addition is beneficial when there are daily episodes of particular shows that you enjoy listening to, but don’t always have time to watch them.

With the new app redesign, the Stitcher web player also gains additional functionality and your reading position will be synced in all the ways you can access Stitcher (iOS, Web, Android, Alexa, Sonos, etc.). Additionally, Stitcher has improved streaming to smart speakers with completely rebuilt Alexa and Sonos integrations.

One existing addition that not all users will see is improved accessibility. This new version includes changing the location of buttons and sliders, creating simple and easy-to-see icons, and using space and font size to accommodate listeners with different abilities. .

The app will begin a public beta for iOS and Android today. It will be rolling out worldwide in the coming months and will be compatible with Stitcher Premium which allows ad-free listening to many shows, bonus episodes and first releases for just $ 4.99 per month.
