This is the latest TV deal for Meet Cute, which was founded by former investment banker Naomi Shah, after a deal with Dickinson producer wiip hit earlier this year.
Shah started the company on Valentine’s Day in 2020 and has raised millions of dollars from companies like Union Square Ventures and Shari Redstone’s investment firm Advancit Capital. It has produced over 450 romantic comedies as original 15-minute scripted audio episodes and has a global network of over 1,000 creators, including Pretty little Liars author Sara Shepard, who created Cruise ship, Dancing with the stars’ Julianne Hough and popstar Ellie Goulding.
One of Meet Cute’s upcoming series, launching next month to coincide with Pride Month and Juneteenth, is a six-part series Green Mountain. Lineup customer Owen Thiele, who starred in doll face and I think you should leave, voice Sophie and Jaden, black, gay siblings, who are used to feeling out of place, but nothing has prepared them for the very rural, white, green mountain. Freshly dumped Sophie tends to her injuries, and big brother Jaden is determined to help his sister out of her grief…anything to avoid her own demons.
Range will also consult on the company’s social media growth strategy, ad sales strategy and brand recommendations.
Pete Micelli, CEO of Range, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Meet Cute. Mostly because we’re hopeless romantics in Range…really. But really because we are so impressed with Naomi Shah’s leadership and vision for the company. With over 400 scripted podcasts, Meet Cute is a natural IP incubator. We look forward to helping the company grow and adapt its intellectual property to film and television formats. »
Meet the CEO of Cute Shah added, “Our company aims to empower storytellers from all walks of life to take creative risks and tell daring romantic comedies through their unique lens. We’re thrilled to work with a stellar company like Range to bring talent to these feel-good stories and redefine the genre for today’s audiences.
